John started his career in Info Security Industry protecting mission critical data and voice communications for Government Agencies, Fortune 500 Companies, Central Banks, and

Financial Institutions, soon after, started his own company and eventually sold the company.  In 2003, John, co-founded a Global Credit Card Processing Wholesale Business with his wife Fenella Kim, Reliance Star Payment Services.  At its peak the company had over 60 full time staff and signed over 500 sales partners nationally with office in Great Neck, New York.

“As a trusted advisor to many of our business clients, I constantly received requests for realtor referrals.  Unfortunately many complaints followed.  Common complaints were that realtors lacked sales and marketing experience, lacked strong negotiation skills, and not tech savvy.   As a result, most of the properties never sold and expired.   With the desire to service our clients better, in 2005, I decided to get my real estate license.  In a very short period, our team sold over 100 million in residential and commercial properties.  I always wanted to start my own real estate company and in 2019 NextHome Platinum Properties was born, “ John recalled.

Fenella Kim, Managing Partner, COO, NYS Licensed RE Salesperson

Fenella Kim co-founded Reliance Star Payment Services in 2003.  She has spent the last fifteen years introducing innovative products, services and technology to the electronic payment processing industry. Focused on providing full-service electronic payment solutions to small and medium size businesses nationwide, Reliance Star offers credit and debit card processing; EBT; check conversion and guarantee; point of sale systems; ATM; a Mobile Payment Application; web design services and gift and loyalty card solutions.

The company successfully penetrated the Chinese, Korean, Vietnamese and Spanish speaking markets by providing multilingual sales and service support to its clients. Fenella, herself, is fluent in five languages. Other than her success in private sector, she has also won several large government contracts, providing payment processing service and training to state and city government agencies.

A Minority and Women Owned Business Enterprise (MWBE) and Women Business Enterprise National Council (WBENC) certified, Reliance Star is dedicated to helping American businesses prosper, by providing secure, fast, easy and cutting-edge payment processing technology – that drives revenue, operational efficiency and profitability. The Better Business Bureau has awarded the company an A+ rating.

In 2011, Fenella became the nation’s first recipient of the Certified Payment Professional (CPP) certification. The CPP is a symbol of excellence conferred on professionals who have demonstrated expertise, knowledge and skills in the complex electronic payment industry.
Under Fenella’s leadership, and with her strong desire to grow the company quickly, Reliance Star has grown from a two-person company to a team of 60. Inc. magazine has three times listed Reliance Star in its hall of fame rankings of America’s Fastest Growing Privately Owned Companies.

In 2018, Reliance Star was successfully acquired by the world’s largest public listed payment processor.
Having her time free up transitioning the sale of her company Reliance Star, Fenella founded Champkids the same year in 2018 with the goal of fundraising scholarship for students in poverty.
With her engineering background and passion for innovation, Fenella launched new venture- Rydebot in 2019. Rydebot is a smart motorized rideable scooter suitcase innovation that is transforming and allowing people to sit and travel on their suitcase. Since launched in Christmas last year, Rydebot quickly became one of the best selling suitcase on Brookstone.com.

In 2019, Fenella and her husband invested and launched NextHome Platinum Properties and NHPP Commercial which is part a NextHome Franchise a national franchise with over 500 locations and projected to hit $8 Billion in Sales.

As a community supporter, Fenella and her team recruited local veterans, first responders, teachers and nurses. The company sponsors new agents real estate courses and trained them to become licensed real estate agents so they can earn additional income to support their family.
With an eye for philanthropy and service, Fenella served as committee member for Asian Women in Business and volunteered her time and resources to ensure the success of the Women Procurement Event. She frequently mentors other women executives and start up entrepreneurs. Since 2013, she joined the Women Presidents Organization and has helped expanded this non-for-profit organization into Asia, started and build a new chapter in Malaysia. In 2017 she was awarded WPO President Award in recognizing her philanthropy achievement.
Having started her first business; an after school private tutoring business at the age of 14, Fenella is passionate about encouraging students to start their own business early. She frequently volunteers her time to mentor students whenever she is available. She served on the Board of Advisory for Roslyn High School-InCubators, a business start-up program for high school students.

As a working mom with two school age children, Fenella has a special focus on children’s charities. She is a supporter of Ronald McDonald House of Long Island, NY, a non-profit that supports families with sick children; March of Dimes, a non-profit that funds life-saving research and programs aimed at ending premature births; St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital, a non-profit that focuses on finding cures for children with life-threatening diseases.
Fenella’s dedication to her community defines her philosophies on which she has built her businesses.

As a Long Island resident, she is active in community events and am a strong advocate for the LGBTQ+ community.  Magna Cum Laude graduate of Skidmore College in Art.
